Chiang Mai has enough annual festival which attract a large number of both Thai and foreign tourists visit Chiang Mai through year

Bo Sang Umbrella and Handicraft Festival Every middle of January, Bo Sang village displays traditional village life, parades and village handicrafts.

Chiang Mai Flower Festival at the first weekend of February, over 20 flower – cover floats parade through the city on Saturday morning. Beauty contest, flower exhibitions, cultural performances at Buag Haad City Park.



City Pillar Inthakin Feastival this ceremony is held to invoke blessing of peace, happiness and prosperity for the city and its residents. Buddha image are paraded around the city. It is held at Wat Chedi Luang for 7 auspicious days and nights in the 7th lunar month.
Joon la Kathin the name of the special celebration of the Buddhist holy season “Awk Pansa”. It marks the end of both lent and the rainy season. Throughout the month there are, Tod Kathin, colorful, noisy processions and donations of food and necessities to monk. Joon la kathin, it is different from Tod Kathin that it could do whenever as readiness at Wat Yaang Laung in Mae
Jeam District.



Yee Peng Festival or Loy Krathong Festival most charming of all Thai festivals; the custom of placing handmade floats decorated with flowers and candles on waterways goes back over 700 years to Sukhothai period. In the north “Yee Peng” is celebrated for two nights under the full moon. As the moon rise on the second night, a procession of beautiful maidens and floats parades through the city of Chiang Mai to the Mae Ping River.



Songkran Festival During 12 – 15, April, Thai people celebrate New Year by throwing water in the moated city of Chiang Mai and nearby. The parade of pouring sacred water on image of Buddha and parades of “Rod Nam Dam Hua to Chiang Mai Provincial Governor” will be pass through the city on 13 April and 15 April accordingly.
